The Satellite Communications Summer School is organised by the University of Malta in collaboration with Satellite Network of Experts (SatNEx IV) and will be held in University of Malta Valletta Campus, from 8 to 10 of May 2017.

The Satellite Communications Summer School 2017 addresses applications, methodological advances and basic theory of Satellite Communications. We plan to touch the current schemes that are implemented covering applications, the space and the ground segments, regulatory aspects, standardisation activities, as well as the current state-of-the-art and future tendencies. The School technical programme consists of 9 short courses as well as 3 keynotes from renowned international professors and industry experts. Most courses will include close-to-real implementation results.

The final review meeting of year 2 activities was held in ESA-ESTEC (NL) in 2017-01-10.

The 8th Advanced Satellite Multimedia Systems Conference and the 14th Signal Processing for Space Communications Workshop have been initiated by the DEIS and ARCES Institutions of the University of Bologna, the DLR Institute for Communications and Navigation and the European Space Agency. The event will be organized by Centre Tecnològic Telecomunicacions Catalunya and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

Building upon the renowned tradition of the two events, this joint conference is an outstanding opportunity for industry and research institutions to get the latest updates and to exchange information about recent advances and emerging technologies for mobile, broadband and broadcast satellite communication systems.

This year ASMS-SPSC has been technically sponsored by SatNEx IV.

The mid-term review meeting of year 2 was held in Palma de Mallorca (Spain) the days 15 and 16 of September.

The days 25 and 27 of April the School on Signal Processing for Next-Generation Satellite Communications 2016 took place in Ghent (Belgium). The school was sponsored by EURASIP, IEEE signal processing society, and Bestcom. Link
